Abstract
A theoretical study to evaluate the thermal characteristics of the mixed materials as storing media in thermal energy storage system, has been conducted in this research. Mm are considered as (cement + sand), (cement + clay), (cement + iron powder) and (cement + aluminum powder). Mm are structured from two mixed materials with a formation ratio 1:1 as uniform spheres. The mathematical one-dimensional model of the Mm thermal energy storage system is created by using the conservation equation of energy and the finite difference technique as a solution method. The comparison between the storing media considered, Mm glass, and rock media as thermal energy storage systems is made. The final results show that the storing media which mixed with metal materials (Mm3 and Mm4) have higher amount of energy storage in the present system.
