Abstract :
It is shown that irrigation water moves in a capillary-porous medium due to hydrostatic pressure, gravitational forces, and capillary pressure. Due to gradients in moisture content, water penetrates horizontally and vertically. The results of full-scale experiments show that in the root-inhabited layer, the moisture content is uniformly distributed and varies from 26.8 to 44.4%, which is quite acceptable from the viewpoint of agricultural technology.
