The crush behaviour of Rohacell-51WF structural foam

Various mechanical behaviours of Rohacell-51WF foam are studied in the present paper. Uniaxial tension and compression, and pure shear properties are obtained using standard test techniques. A hydrostatic test rig was designed to conduct hydrostatic compressive tests on the foam. These material tests give basic mechanical properties of the studied foam. Transverse shear e€ects on the compressive behaviour of the foam are studied by developing a shear-compression test technique. Deformation and failure features during foam crushing are discussed according to experimental evidence.
