Abstract :
Contrary to the usual procedure, a desired state of stress is assumed and that corresponding funicular shells shape is obtained. The reticulated domes that are developed from these equivalent shells are called Funicular domes. For shallow shells the governing equation is a Poissonʹs equation and for deep shells the governing equation is a nonlinear partial differential equation. The Boundary Integral Element method is used to obtain the shape of the funicular reticulated domes. Nonlinear analysis is carried out to investigate the snap through buckling and load deformation response. Numerical examples are solved using the program "NLA" developed.
