  • Abstract
    For a structure due to severe earthquake motion, a method for predicting the ultimate state may be needed to the seismic design. The purpose of this paper is to present the evaluation method using the simplified model and linear analysis in order to predict the dynamic buckling collapse of an aluminium alloy double layer latticed roof supported by two double layer latticed walls. In the study, the elastic-plastic analysis considering both geometric and member buckling nonlinearities is carried out. And also the critical displacement at the top of the wall corresponding to the ultimate state of the wall is shown to be useful for determining the dynamic collapse. Finally, the method tor estimating the maximum amplitude of the input earthquake motion, due to which the structure brings about the dynamic collapse, is proposed by using the investigated critical displacement. And the accuracy of the proposed method and the conditions for the applicability are discussed in comparison of the numerical results and the estimated values.
