Abstract :
The reaction mixture of beta-cyclodextrin, phosphorous-pentoxide and -glutamic acid was successfully used as chiral selector in capillary zone electrophoresis. The reaction process and the main properties of the reaction mixture was introduced in detail. The enantiomeric separation of lobeline and benzhexol were investigated. The chiral resolution was strongly influenced by the concentration of the reaction mixture, pH and the organic modifier. The two compounds studied can be enantiomerically resolved with a high resolution for lobeline (Rs= 2.37) and benzhexol (Rs=2.60) in less than 14 min with no capillary treatment. A possible separation mechanism and several factors influencing the chiral separation were discussed.
