Abstract
Patients with anorexia nervosa (n = 18) and patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) (n = 16) had similar scores on the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (19 ± 9 vs. 22 ± 6). This suggests that these disorders have similar magnitude of impairment from obsessions and compulsions; however, OCD patients endorsed a wide variety of obsessions and compulsions, whereas anorexics tended to endorse symptoms that were related to symmetry and order.
