Abstract :
The presence or absence of tendon calcification was studied at six anatomic sites: Achilles, gastrocnemius, quadriceps, triceps (elbow), triceps long head (shoulder), and rotator cuff. The morphology of the calcifications was categorized in 156 patients with chondrocalcinosis in the knee. Achilles tendon, gastrocnemius, and quadriceps tendon calcifications were most common, ranging from 21%–25% of our patient population. The most common appearance of calcification was thin linear bands. Triceps calcification at the elbow, rotator cuff calcifications, and long head of triceps tendon calcification were less common.
