An emergency medicine elective abroad: Learning and teaching and teaching and learning

For years the United States has been a training ground for physicians from developing c countries. Conversely, there is much to be gained by US physicians, particularly emergency physicians, who wish to study abroad. International electives in emergency medicine are becoming an increasingly popular choice for residents in training. This article explores the rationale and discusses the potential benefits of such an experience. Suggestions for developing a proposal are made.
