A [11C]carbon dioxide generator

A simple method is describe for the fractional release of [11C]CO2, obtained from one irradiation. [11C]CO2 is trapped from the target in a short column filled with ascarite, which is subsequently eluted with water. From this eluate[11C]CO2 can now be released fractionally by adding a portion of it to a 1.5 M solution of citric acid. [11C]CO2 ready for synthesis is available within 3 min from EOB.
