Uncertainty assessment in the analysis of alpha-particle spectra

The variances and covariances of optimized peak fit parameters are used to determine the uncertainty attributed to the result of α-particle spectra analyses. The variance–covariance matrices are calculated for a convolution-type peak fitting function. An example is taken from the analyses of plutoniumspectra used in the EUROMET project No. 325.
