Low-temperature distillation processes in single- and dual-purpose plants

During the last decade, intensive research and development have been invested to improve further the advantages of the lowtemperature process by increasing the unitʹs capacities and decreasing the energy consumption. This paper presents the advantages of the low-temperature distillation process, describes practical commercial application for steam driven multi-effect distillation plants in dual-purpose (electricity and water production) applications and the latest developments for single-purpose mechanical vapor compression plants.
