Charge¯transfer complex of 2,3-diaminonaphthalene and chloranil: colour development and crystal structure

An intermolecular charge¯transfer (CT) complex was obtained from 2,3diaminonaphthalene as donor with chloranil as acceptor. The crystal structure, as shown by an X-ray analysis, was composed of the donor and acceptor alternatively. The component molecules are stacked on top of each other to form a column along the aaxis.
