Abstract :
The reduction process from CrVO4to CrVO3was investigated by temperature programmed reduction; thermogravimetry; XRD, IR, and ESR spectroscopies; and SEM microscopy. This detailed analysis shows that the corundum-type CrVO3mixed oxide forms from 900 K and suggests as an intermediate stage the incorporation of CrIIIin a VO2rutile type phase. The absence of the V2O3typical free-carrier behavior could result from the CrIIIin the lattice and it is clearly revealed by IR spectroscopy.
