Abstract :
Two cyanide-bridged bimetallic assemblies, [Mn(en)]3 [Cr(CN)6]2·4H2O (1) (en=ethylenediamine) and [Mn(glya)]3[Cr(CN)6] 2·2.5H2O (2) (glya=glycine amide), have been obtained. X-ray crystallographic studies indicate that they have a threedimensional network structure based on a defective cubane unit. Magnetic studies demonstrate that both are ferrimanget with Tc=69 K for 1 and 71 K for 2. Remnant magnetizations for 1 and 2 are 1.2×104 and 1.1×104 cm3 G mol-1, respectively, and coercive fields are 28 and 19 G, respectively. The assemblies 1 and 2 are relevant to a Prussian blue analogue, Mn3[Cr(CN)6]2· 12H2O, which is also a ferrimagnet with Tc=63 K, a remnant magnetization of 3.1×103cm3 G mol-1 and a coercive field of 8 G.
