Effects of interferon therapy in “non responder” patients with chronic hepatitis C

We reviewed the impact of interferon treatment on viral load, transaminase serum activity and histological features in patients with chronic hepatitis C in whom treatment did not result in a sustained virus eradication. As patients with cirrhosis are often called non responders, we also reviewed the impact of interferon on these end points as well as on hepatocellular carcinoma incidence and survival.
