Abstract
Runoff discharge consists of surface, inter-, and ground-water flow components. Since the nonlinearity in the rainfall and runoff process is dependent upon the separation behaviors of rainfall into the above three components, the estimation of the component of the ground-water flow is very important. This study represents the computational method of the ground-water flow from the rainfall using the continuity equation which is derived from the recession curve. The numerical results of the discharge of the ground-water flow are in good agreement with the converted discharges of the observed ground-water levels at the Shiozawagawa river in Japan and the discharges that are derived from the observed concentration of the tracer isotope in the subbasin of the Ruisseau des Eaux Volées watershed in Québec, Canada.
