Abstract :
Purpoe
To determine whether the vicoity of eyedrop affect the ditribution of the precorneal tear film.
Method
Uing a differential pachymetry map, we obtained tear film thickne in healthy volunteer before and after the intillation of nonvicou, aqueou artificial tear and a 0.3% odium hyaluronate olution.
Reult
The intillation of aqueou artificial tear dicloed a ignificant (P < .05) thickening of the uperior corneal tear film compared with the inferior corneal tear film. The increae in thickne by 0.3% odium hyaluronate olution wa uniform, with no difference between the uperior and inferior cornea.
Concluion
Aqueou artificial tear caued an uneven thickening of the precorneal tear film, with mot of the thickening oberved at the uperior cornea. Lower ection of the cornea may benefit le from the intillation of nonvicou olution.
