Corneal injury from exploion of microwaved egg

Purpoe To report two patient with ocular burn from exploion of microwaved egg that caued direct viion-threatening corneal damage. Method The initial examination and treatment of both patient are decribed. Reult Both patient were initially examined with evere decreae in the viual acuity of both eye. The firt patient required limbal conjunctival tranplantation and a ubequent penetrating keratoplaty in the right eye and prolonged treatment of uperficial keratiti in the left eye. The econd patient utained bilateral corneal epithelial defect and unilateral intratromal hemorrhage. Concluion Exploding microwaved egg can caue notable thermal injury to the eye. The public hould be educated about the danger of cooking egg in the microwave oven.
