Purpoe To demontrate that currently available magnetic reonance imaging technique may verify the abence of the abducen nerve in Duane yndrome. Method We performed magnetic reonance imaging in a 36-year-old woman with left Duane yndrome, type 1, uing poiled gradient recalled acquiition in the teady tate to obtain high-reolution T1-weighted image through the abducen nerve in it ubarachnoid egment. can were obtained in the axial plane from the medulla to the midbrain and then reformatted along the plane of the abducen nerve. Reult Unilateral abence of the left abducen nerve wa verified uing magnetic reonance imaging. Concluion The abence of the abducen nerve in Duane yndrome can be verified by modern magnetic reonance imaging technique.
