Abstract :
Purpoe
To invetigate the aerobic and anaerobic microbiology of dacryocytiti.
Method
Retropective review of the 62 clinical and microbiologic record collected between 1980 and 1990.
Reult
Aerobic or facultative bacteria were recovered in 32 cae (52%), anaerobic bacteria only in 20 cae (32%), mixed aerobic and anaerobic bacteria in even cae (11%), and fungi in three cae (5%). A total of 94 organim (1.5 per pecimen), which included 56 aerobic or facultative anaerobic organim, 35 anaerobic organim, and three fungi, were recovered. The predominant aerobic and facultative bacteria were taphylococcu aureu (15 iolate), taphylococcu epidermidi (13 iolate), and Peudomona pecie (even iolate). The mot frequently recovered anaerobe were Peptotreptococcu pecie (13 iolate), Propionibacterium pecie (12 iolate), Prevotella pecie (four iolate), and Fuobacterium pecie (three iolate). The predominant fungu wa Candida albican (two iolate). Polymicrobial infection wa preent in 28 cae (45%).
Concluion
Thee data highlight the potential importance of anaerobic bacteria in dacryocytiti.
