erou Detachment of the Ciliary Body in Harada Dieae Original Reearch Article

Purpoe: To evaluate the involvement of the anterior ocular egment in Harada dieae. Method: In a propective tudy, ultraound biomicrocopy wa performed in 18 conecutive eye of nine patient with Harada dieae in it acute phae before and after onet of ytemic corticoteroid therapy. Examination wa repeated every 3 day until the reolution of erou retinal detachment. Reult: erou detachment of the ciliary body wa preent in 11 (61%) of 18 eye before treatment. The circumference of the ciliary body wa detached in 10 of the 11 eye. The height of ciliary detachment ranged from 20% to 250% of the cleral thickne. Ciliary detachment wa more prominent in eye with more extenive retinal detachment. There wa no relation between the frequency of ciliary detachment and the everity of iriti. On day 3 of treatment, ciliary detachment had diappeared in even eye. In the other four eye, it diminihed in height to le than 10% of cleral thickne. Retinal detachment diappeared on day 6 through 17 (mean, day 11) of treatment. Two eye of one patient howed very hallow anterior chamber. Thee eye howed high ciliary detachment at 250% of cleral thickne. In another patient, both eye developed −5.0 diopter of tranient myopia. Concluion: Ciliary detachment wa a frequent finding in the acute tage of Harada dieae. It reolution wa more prompt than that of erou retinal detachment after treatment. Ciliary detachment may be related to the development of a hallow anterior chamber.
