Abstract :
Purpoe: To examine the topographic ditribution of the origin of diabetic retinal neovacularization. Method: The eye of 3,121 patient with background diabetic retinopathy were invetigated. Thee patient were volunteer in ytemic medical therapy experiment. Color tereo photograph were obtained annually. The firt retinal neovacularization ite were identified and the ditance from the optic nerve meaured. Reult: In 1 year, neovacularization originated in 282 eye. The uperotemporal quadrant, at 6 mm from the optic dik, wa the mot frequent initial ite. Concluion: The firt retinal neovacularization ite cluter around pecific anatomic foci. Thi information hould influence retinopathy monitoring protocol. Article Outline
