Abstract :
Purpoe: To report the hitopathologic and immunohitochemical finding in autoomal dominant cone degeneration.
Method: The autopy eye of a 75-year-old man with autoomal dominant cone degeneration were tudied with both light and electron microcopy. In addition, immunofluorecent tudie uing antibodie to cone opin and cone alpha tranducin were performed.
Reult: Hitopathologic examination of the fovea dicloed lo of photoreceptor and attenuated retinal pigment epithelium. Reduced number of cone could be een in the parafovea, and only occaional cone were viible in the periphery; rod were preerved in the periphery.
Concluion: The hitopathologic and immunohitochemical finding in thi cae of dominantly inherited cone degeneration correlate well with the lo of cone function and preervation of normal or nearly normal rod function upon clinical examination. Thi condition affect red, green, and blue cone.
