Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the retinal thickne analyzer, a new image analyzer involving laer-lit biomicrocopy, for quantitative aement of retinal thickne in patient with macular edema econdary to retinal vein occluion. METHOD: Fifty-eight patient (central retinal vein occluion, 22 eye; branch retinal vein occluion, 36 eye) with a clinical diagnoi of macular edema aociated with retinal vein occluion were evaluated. Retinal thickne analyi wa performed with the retinal thickne analyzer. A green helium-neon laer lit directed into the eye wa canned to generate optical cro-ection of the retina. Image were analyzed by an automated oftware algorithm, and a detailed map of the retinal thickne wa obtained. REULT: Laer-lit image obtained with the retinal thickne analyzer in patient with macular edema aociated with retinal vein occluion dicloed intraretinal change uch a retinal edema, cytoid pace, and hemorrhage. Linear regreion analyi howed a ignificant relationhip between the macular thickne in the central fovea and corrected viual acuity reported on a logMAR cale (P = .002, adjuted R2 = 0.40 in central retinal vein occluion; P = .002, adjuted R2 = 0.34 in branch retinal vein occluion). CONCLUION: We confirmed the capability of the retinal thickne analyzer to provide rapid and precie evaluation of macular thickening in patient with retinal vein occluion.
