Abstract :
PURPOE: To how that extending Doppler imaging into the high-frequency domain could allow detection and characterization of blood flow in mall arteriole and capillarie. METHOD: A 40-MHz continuou wave Doppler ytem and a 60-MHz puled-wave Doppler ytem were contructed, teted, and ued to examine the ciliary body region in two normal volunteer. REULT: Ciliary body circulation in the region of the great circle of the iri, which i undetectable by conventional 7.5-MHz duplex Doppler, wa conitently and reproducibly detectable by high-frequency (40-MHz and 60-MHz) Doppler ytem. CONCLUION: High-frequency Doppler imaging may provide a unique new tool for the characterization and aement of anterior egment ocular blood flow.
