Effect of topical anti-inflammatory treatment on the long-term outcome of laer trabeculoplaty

PURPOE: To invetigate the effect of anti-inflammatory treatment on the long-term outcome of argon laer trabeculoplaty, we extended the hort-term tudy of the Fluorometholone-Laer Trabeculoplaty tudy Group. METHOD: Among the chronic open-angle glaucoma patient randomly aigned to the 0.25% fluorometholone or placebo eyedrop four time daily before and after argon laer trabeculoplaty in the Fluorometholone-Laer Trabeculoplaty tudy, the long-term record of 27 patient (13 eye in the fluorometholone group and 14 eye in the placebo group) were available for our review and analyi. REULT: There were no tatitically ignificant difference in the ucce rate of argon laer trabeculoplaty between the fluorometholone and control group over the follow-up period of 4.6 ± 3.4 year. CONCLUION: While it decreaed ocular inflammation and dicomfort during the early potoperative period, peri–argon laer trabeculoplaty ue of a topical corticoteroid did not influence the long-term intraocular preure outcome of argon laer trabeculoplaty.
