Gelatinou drop-like corneal dytrophy i not one of the βig-h3–mutated corneal amyloidoe

PURPOE: To dicover if βig-h3 i mutated in gelatinou drop-like corneal dytrophy, a ha been uggeted. METHOD: Genomic DNA wa iolated from unrelated individual with lattice corneal dytrophy type I (n = 3), Avellino corneal dytrophy (n = 3), and gelatinou drop-like corneal dytrophy (n = 3) and ued a a template for polymerae chain reaction to amplify all exon in βig-h3. The polymerae chain reaction product wa then equenced. REULT: βig-h3 i mutated in lattice corneal dytrophy type I (Arg124Cy) and Avellino corneal dytrophy (Arg124Hi). In gelatinou drop-like corneal dytrophy, on the other hand, no mutation wa detected in the entire coding region of βig-h3 (all 17 exon). CONCLUION: Unlike the amyloidotic corneal dytrophie lattice type I and Avellino, gelatinou drop-like corneal dytrophy i not likely to be caued by a mutation in βig-h3.
