Abstract
PURPOE: To alert ophthalmologit to the ue of Ihihara color plate in the detection of imultanagnoia.
METHOD: We examined even patient referred for impaired viion. Evaluation included color plate teting with Ihihara color plate.
REULT: All even patient had imultanagnoia, with marked difficulty in identifying the number in Ihihara color plate depite adequate viual acuity and the ability to name all of the color in the plate correctly. One of thee patient wa referred with the diagnoi of a cone dytrophy becaue of her poor performance on the Ihihara tet. All of the patient had bilateral occipitoparietal damage or atrophy on magnetic reonance imaging.
CONCLUION: Ophthalmologit mut be aware that a poor performance with Ihihara plate may not be attributable to an impairment of color viion but rather to occipitoparietal brain damage aociated with imultanagnoia.
