Abstract :
PURPOE: To highlight allergic fungal inuiti a a caue of ophthalmic and inu problem by identifying the profile of the patient with allergic fungal inuiti and preenting a ucceful treatment approach.
METHOD: ix conecutive cae of patient with ophthalmic manifetation of allergic fungal inuiti were reviewed. Ophthalmic finding, inu involvement, mycology, immune repone, imaging tudie, and treatment were examined. The characteritic of thi patient group with ophthalmic manifetation of allergic fungal inuiti were compared with thoe of the general group of patient with allergic fungal inuiti.
REULT: All ix patient had proptoi. One had ymptomatic diplopia and one had viual lo. Imaging tudie, fungal characterization, and immune profile were imilar to the reported allergic fungal inuiti population. After treatment there wa no recurrence of ophthalmic or inu ymptom at a mean follow-up of 34 month (range, 8 to 48 month). There were no complication of treatment.
CONCLUION: Initial diagnoi of allergic fungal inuiti require upicion on the part of the ophthalmologit. Proptoi i the mot common ophthalmic ign. Differentiation from invaive form of fungal inu dieae i crucial, becaue ytemic antifungal medication and extenive urgical tiue debridement are not required in allergic fungal inuiti. Treatment conit of extirpation of the allergic mucin and fungu, inu aeration, and ytemic and topical corticoteroid.
