Abstract
PURPOE:
To decribe a new urgical technique for poterior corneal tranplantation.
METHOD:
An elderly patient had painful, peudophakic bullou keratopathy with low viual potential. Through a 9.0-mm cleral tunnel inciion, a midtromal pocket wa diected acro the cornea, and a poterior lamellar dik 7.0-mm in diameter, which conited of poterior troma, Decemet membrane, and endothelium, wa excied. A imilarly haped donor poterior dik wa implanted in the recipient opening without uture fixation, and the cleral inciion wa utured.
REULT:
Throughout the potoperative period, the poterior corneal tranplant remained clear and in poition. Three month after urgery, the “uture-in” atigmatic error wa 3.5 diopter. Pachymetry meaured 0.44 mm.
CONCLUION:
Poterior lamellar keratoplaty may be a new urgical approach with which to manage corneal endothelial diorder.
