Potential complication aociated with removal of ganciclovir implant

PURPOE: To decribe the complication of eparation of the medication pellet from the tab during the removal of a ganciclovir implant. METHOD: Cae report. REULT: eparation of the pellet from the tab upon removal of ganciclovir implant occurred at the time of reimplantation in two human immunodeficiency viru (HIV)–poitive patient with cytomegaloviru (CMV) retiniti. CONCLUION: Our cae how the poibility of pellet eparation from the tab during the removal of a ganciclovir implant. Although pellet eparation from it tab i rare, urgeon hould be aware of thi potential complication. Modifying recommended technique to remove the ganciclovir implant may reduce the incidence of pellet-tab eparation.
