Abstract :
Purpoe: To report a modification in the deign of bed pectacle to provide an aid for patient who undergo face-down poitioning after vitrectomy with ga-fluid exchange and potoperative ga tamponade. Method: New equipment deign. Bed pectacle that ue prim to move the image 90 degree around the horizontal meridian were modified by rotating the prim in the frame 180 degree and adding noepad and cable temple. The pectacle were given to 12 patient for ue during potoperative face-down poitioning. A quetionnaire wa ued to evaluate the helpfulne of the pectacle during face-down poitioning. Reult: Patient ranked the pectacle a “helpful” to “very helpful” with a mean and D of 8.3 ± 1.6 on a cale of 1 to 10, where 1 wa “a hindrance” and 10 wa “very helpful.” Patient wore the pectacle an average of 5.7 ± 4.5 hour a day (range, 1.5 to 15 hour). Concluion: Modified bed pectacle appear to be a portable aid to patient who undergo face-down poitioning while itting, tanding, or prone.
