Tranpupillary thermotherapy in the management of circumcribed choroidal hemangioma

Purpoe: To report a cae of circumcribed choroidal hemangioma effectively managed with tranpupillary thermotherapy. Method: A 53-year-old man affected by extramacular circumcribed choroidal hemangioma had utained a decline in viual acuity caued by ubretinal fluid exudation into the macular area. Multiple attempt at treatment with catter photocoagulation over the urface of the leion for everal year had been unucceful in reducing tumor-related exudation. The patient wa examined on referral and underwent a ingle eion of treatment employing tranpupillary thermotherapy. The coure of the leion after treatment wa documented with fundu photography and ultraonography. Reult: Complete atrophy of the choroidal hemangioma with reorption of ubretinal fluid wa documented over the 6 month after tranpupillary thermotherapy, with improvement in viual acuity. Concluion: Tranpupillary thermotherapy i an effective alternative to conventional catter photocoagulation or radiation therapy for precie ablation of circumcribed choroidal hemangioma.
