Abstract :
PURPOE: To invetigate the relationhip of parapapillary atrophy meaured by confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy to viual field enitivity meaured with tandard automated perimetry and hort-wavelength automated perimetry in patient with primary open-angle glaucoma. METHOD: Forty-even eye of 47 primary open-angle glaucoma patient with increaed intraocular preure (≥22 mm Hg) were enrolled. Optic nerve head topography and parapapillary atrophy (beta and alpha zone) were aeed by confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy. Mean deviation and corrected pattern D were aeed with tandard automated perimetry and hort-wavelength automated perimetry. REULT: Beta and alpha zone were found in 23 (49%) and 47 (100%) eye with primary open-angle glaucoma, repectively. The area of beta zone howed ignificant correlation with MD of tandard automated perimetry, corrected pattern D of tandard automated perimetry, and corrected pattern D of hort-wavelength automated perimetry (pearman r = −0.366, P = .012; r = 0.327, P = .025; and r = 0.436, P = .002, repectively). The area of alpha zone howed a ignificant correlation with mean deviation of tandard automated perimetry (r = −0.378, P = .009). Mean MD of tandard automated perimetry, mean corrected pattern D of tandard automated perimetry, and mean corrected pattern D of hort-wavelength automated perimetry were ignificantly wore in eye with beta zone than in eye without beta zone. CONCLUION: Parapapillary atrophy meaured by confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy, epecially beta zone, i aociated with glaucomatou viual field lo demontrated by tandard automated perimetry and hort-wavelength automated perimetry.
