Abstract
PURPOE: To determine the effect of contact lene on canning laer polarimetry of the peripapillary nerve fiber layer.
METHOD: In a propective tudy uing the Nerve Fiber Analyzer (Laer Diagnotic Technologie, an Diego, California), retinal nerve fiber layer thickne in 22 ubject (51 eye) wa imaged with and without contact lene (dipoable and nondipoable daily wear oft and rigid ga permeable). Meaurement of the circumference and of each quadrant were compared uing paired tudent t tet.
REULT: Nerve Fiber Analyzer meaurement with and without contact lene were not ignificantly different for any of the contact len type teted (P ≥ .11), uing either hyperopic (to +4 diopter) or myopic (to −8.5 diopter) lene.
CONCLUION: Contact len wear and refractive power of the eye within the range teted do not ignificantly affect canning laer polarimetry of the peripapillary nerve fiber layer.
