Abstract
PURPOE:
To report a cae of uveiti aociated with the live attenuated varicella viru vaccine (Varivax; Merck & Co, Inc, Wet Point, Pennylvania) in a young, otherwie healthy girl.
METHOD:
The time of onet of uveiti in relation to vaccination and the number and the pattern of ditribution of veicle were noted. The patient received oral acyclovir and topical teroid and cycloplegic drop.
REULT:
The uveiti and veicular rah improved ignificantly after 7 day of treatment. A literature review and communication with the drug’ manufacturer dicloed no identifiable previou cae of uveiti aociated with Varivax.
CONCLUION:
Uveiti hould be recognized a a poible advere ide effect of the varicella vaccine.
