Acute dacryocytiti a a preenting ign of pediatric leukemia

PURPOE: To report acute dacryocytiti with preeptal celluliti a the preenting ign of leukemia in a child. METHOD: Cae report and literature review. REULT: During the initial evaluation of a 17-month-old child with epiphora, left lower eyelid welling, and a tender left medial canthal ma, a complete blood cell count demontrated pancytopenia. Bone marrow biopy dicloed replacement of normal cellular architecture with a dene infiltrate of leukocyte blat form. DNA analyi dicloed a tranlocation between chromoome 10 and 11, conitent with the diagnoi of nonlymphocytic leukemia. Although the adjacent lower eyelid celluliti reponded to intravenou antibiotic, lacrimal ac ditention decreaed only after chemotherapy wa initiated. CONCLUION: Dacryocytiti with preeptal celluliti can be a preenting ign of leukemia. Thi blood malignancy hould be conidered in patient whoe leukocyte count do not correlate with their clinical preentation.
