Abstract :
PURPOE: To report anterior ichemic optic neuropathy aociated with ytemic hypotenion in a patient undergoing continuou ambulatory peritoneal dialyi.
METHOD: Cae report. A 58-year-old man undergoing continuou ambulatory peritoneal dialyi developed painle blurred viion in both eye and bilateral optic dik welling with an altitudinal field defect in the left eye. Twenty-four-hour ambulatory blood preure monitoring wa requeted in addition to other routine invetigation.
REULT: Routine blood preure meaurement in the clinic wa 130/86 mm Hg, but ambulatory blood preure monitoring demontrated pronounced early morning hypotenion with individual reading a low a 91/41 mm Hg.
CONCLUION: Renal dialyi can render patient hypotenive, and thi may be aociated with anterior ichemic optic neuropathy. The overnight drop in blood preure may not be appreciated with routine blood preure meaurement. Therefore, 24-hour ambulatory blood preure monitoring hould be conidered when invetigating patient with upected anterior ichemic optic neuropathy who are undergoing renal replacement.
