Abstract :
PURPOE: To report early experience with a poterior chamber precrytalline intraocular len deigned for correction of evere myopia from −10 to −30 diopter. Thi intraocular len repect the tranparent crytalline len and doe not interfere with accommodation.
METHOD: The concave-convex methylmethacrylate len, with flexible haptic that are upported in the ulcu, i placed behind the iri, in front of the len, and centered with the pupil.
REULT: From July 1995 to November 1998, 149 precrytalline lene have been inerted with few, generally reverible complication, which are now largely prevented by adequate modification of the intraocular len. Correction ha been atifactory and table.
CONCLUION: Although follow-up i relatively hort, precrytalline len placement may be conidered an important contribution to the urgical management of evere myopia to improve the patient’ viion and, conequently, quality of life.
