  • Abstract
PURPOE: To preent the microbial pectrum and uceptibilitie of iolate in potoperative endophthalmiti. METHOD: Iolate from 206 eye of 206 patient who underwent vitrectomy for potoperative endophthalmiti were examined. REULT: One-hundred twelve (54.4%) of 206 vitreou ample were culture poitive and 14 (12.5%) of 112 culture-poitive cae were polymicrobial, yielding a total of 126 iolate. Iolate included 59 (46.8%) gram-poitive cocci, eight (6.3%) gram-poitive bacilli, 33 (26.2%) gram-negative organim, five (4.0%) Actinomycete-related organim, and 21 (16.7%) fungi. uceptibilitie to amikacin, ceftazidime, chloramphenicol, cefazolin, ciprofloxacin, gentamicin, and vancomycin are reported. CONCLUION: Thi i the larget, ingle-center, propective erie on microbial uceptibilitie in potoperative endophthalmiti. We report a high prevalence of gram-negative pecie and fungi, uggeting that empiric therapy hould include coverage for gram-negative pathogen and for fungal pathogen in appropriate etting.
