Abstract :
PURPOE: To decribe a morphologic variant of the multiple evanecent white-dot yndrome that can mimic other condition. METHOD: We examined three patient with evere cae of unilateral multiple evanecent white-dot yndrome characterized by an atypical progreive circumpapillary dicoloration of the fundu. REULT: The confluent circumpapillary leion progreed toward or beyond the equator of the fundu, raiing initial concern of a viral retiniti. However, pinpoint dot at the leading edge evolved into the typical wreath-like pot of multiple evanecent white-dot yndrome, which then coaleced into the advancing edge of a geographic retiniti or retinal pigment epitheliiti, before pontaneou reolution. CONCLUION: Progreive geographic circumpapillary dicoloration, appearing a a giant white pot, occur rarely in evere cae of multiple evanecent white-dot yndrome. The ditinctive appearance may ugget a diorder other than multiple evanecent white-dot yndrome, which can make initial diagnoi more difficult and lead to unneceary or inappropriate teting and treatment.
