  • Abstract
    PURPOE: Congenital mooth mucle hamartoma are benign tumor compoed of proliferating mooth mucle cell. They are uually een a abnormal patche of kin. Ocular involvement of congenital mooth mucle hamartoma i unuual, with rare report of patient with external eyelid involvement or proptoi reulting from orbital tumor. We decribe a patient with a congenital mooth mucle hamartoma that involved the taral conjunctival fornix. METHOD: Review of the patient’ medical record, including the reult of ophthalmologic, radiologic, and hitologic examination. REULT: A healthy 2-year-old boy wa initially een with a conjunctival ma. He had a dicrete, gray, cytic-appearing leion in the inferior fornix of the left eye. A magnetic reonance imaging tudy revealed no ign of extenion of the leion into the orbit. The leion wa urgically excied. Hitologic ection howed large bundle of mooth mucle with a fibrotic background and interdigitating fat, conitent with a diagnoi of a congenital mooth mucle hamartoma. CONCLUION: To our knowledge, thi i the firt report of a patient with a congenital mooth mucle hamartoma ariing from the conjunctival fornix. It preumably originated from either the mooth mucle of the vacular endothelium or from the capulopapebral mucle. Congenital mooth mucle hamartoma hould be conidered in the differential diagnoi of cytic-appearing conjunctival fornix leion.
