Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the afety and efficacy of the Ahmed glaucoma valve implant in patient with glaucoma a a reult of turge-Weber yndrome.
METHOD: Eleven eye (10 patient) with glaucoma reulting from turge-Weber yndrome had placement of an Ahmed glaucoma valve implant from May 1993 to June 1996 at the Jule tein Eye Intitute. ucce wa defined by intraocular preure at the lat two conecutive viit of le than 21 mm Hg, no additional glaucoma urgery, no expulive choroidal hemorrhage, and no retinal detachment.
REULT: Mean intraocular preure on the firt potoperative day wa 14.0 mm Hg (D ± 6.7). The cumulative probability of ucce wa 79% (95% confidence interval [CI], 52% to 100%) at 24 month, 59% (95% CI, 20% to 98%) at 42 month, and 30% (95% CI, 0% to 75%) at 60 month.
CONCLUION: On the bai of limited follow-up, the Ahmed glaucoma valve implant appear to be a relatively ueful drainage device in eye with glaucoma reulting from turge-Weber yndrome
