Abstract :
PURPOE:
To determine the ucceful treatment of unilateral phacolytic glaucoma by vitrectomy and trabeculectomy in a patient with homocytinuria whoe len had dilocated into the vitreou at leat 15 year earlier.
METHOD:
In a 32-year-old woman with homocytinuria, bilateral dilocation of the len into the vitreou, and phacolytic glaucoma in her left eye a three-port par plana vitrectomy wa performed with the patient under general anetheia. The len wa removed and a trabeculectomy fahioned. pecial precaution for general anetheia included preoperative apirin and compreion tocking for thromboembolic prophylaxi and intraoperative dextroe infuion, 5%, to maintain intravacular volume and prevent hypoglycemia.
REULT:
The intraocular preure and uveiti reolved potoperatively with improvement in the viual acuity and intraocular preure, which returned to normal without further treatment.
CONCLUION:
Phacolytic glaucoma i bet reolved by removal of the exciting len material. Par plana vitrectomy with the patient under general anetheia can be carried out afely depite the rik traditionally aociated with homocytinuria.
