Abstract :
PURPOE:
To evaluate central erou chorioretinopathy with optical coherence tomography during the acute phae and after reolution of the acute phae.
METHOD:
In a propective tudy, 23 conecutive eye of 23 patient (19 men, four women; mean age ± D, 46.0 ± 8.1 year; range, 29 to 60 year) with central erou chorioretinopathy were examined with optical coherence tomography during the acute phae and after reolution of the retinal detachment. After the initial examination, the patient were reexamined for 3 to 6 month (mean, 4.7 ± 1.1 month). Cro-ectional retinal image through the center of the fovea were obtained from all eye by optical coherence tomography. The retinal thickne at the center of the fovea wa meaured. The difference between the retinal thickne during the acute phae and after reolution of the retinal detachment wa tatitically analyzed uing the Wilcoxon tet. We alo examined a grayih-white leion that correponded to the leakage point in fluorecein angiography in four eye.
REULT:
In the acute phae, neuroenory retina wa thickened within the area of erou retinal detachment in all 23 eye. The detached retina wa thicker than the reattached retina after reolution of the retinal detachment in all eye. The retinal thickne at the center of the fovea during the acute phae (range, 157 to 236 μm; mean ± D, 196.9 ± 22.6 μm) wa ignificantly thickened compared with that after reolution (range, 105 to 152 μm; mean ± D, 124.8 ± 10.7 μm; P<.0001, Wilcoxon tet). In the acute phae, area of low reflectivity localized within the detached retina were oberved in 18 of the 23 eye. In the area of the grayih- white leion, optical coherence tomography howed a moderately reflective ma bridging the detached neuroenory retina and retinal pigment epithelium in the four eye; the outer layer of the detached retina wa more highly reflective in thee eye. The retinal pigment epithelium wa focally detached beneath the ubretinal reflective ma in three of the four eye.
CONCLUION:
In all eye tudied, neuroenory retina wa thickened within the area of erou retinal detachment in the acute phae of central erou chorioretinopathy. The grayih-white leion eem to be a fibrinou exudate that accumulate in the ubretinal pace and infiltrate into the outer retina
