Abstract :
PURPOE: To propectively evaluate functional and funducopic change after laer treatment in patient with diabetic retinopathy and clinically ignificant macular edema by canning laer ophthalmocope fundu perimetry.
METHOD: Thirty eye of 30 patient with clinically ignificant macular edema a a reult of diabetic retinopathy were propectively examined before and at leat 3 month after focal laer treatment with automatic fundu threhold perimetry uing the canning laer ophthalmocope. Threhold of light enitivity were compared with age-corrected normal value and correlated with corrected viual acuity and ubjective appraial of viual function.
REULT: In 30 eye, fundu perimetry lated for 10.5 ± 2.7 (mean ± D) minute with 322 ± 67 timulu preentation for each eye. Wherea eight eye remained table (< ±1 dB change), 15 improved concerning mean deviation (MD) (3.1 ± 1.7 dB) after focal laer treatment. tability of fixation remained the ame after focal laer treatment (0.75 ± 0.57 degree). Laer car howed marked lo of function (MD > 13 dB).
CONCLUION: Although light enitivity wa reduced in area of macular edema, there wa no correlation between the amount of edema and viual function. Fundu perimetry allow the creation of exact map of retinal dyfunction before and after laer treatment. It may help in making management deciion in diabetic and nondiabetic patient by offering a enitive parameter in addition to viual acuity.
