Abstract
PURPOE:
To meaure marker of leukocyte activation in patient with an excluively ocular inflammatory or bacterial dieae.
METHOD:
Neutrophil myeloperoxidae, eoinophil cationic protein, eoinophil neurotoxin, and oluble interleukin-2 receptor were meaured in erum and tear of 17 patient with allergic vernal keratoconjunctiviti, even with atopic keratoconjunctiviti, 11 with eaonal allergic conjunctiviti, even with giant papillary conjunctiviti, 13 with roacea blepharokeratoconjunctiviti, even with bacterial conjunctiviti, and 13 normal ubject a control.
REULT:
In erum of patient with vernal and atopic keratoconjunctiviti, level of eoinophil cationic protein, eoinophil neurotoxin, and interleukin-2 receptor were ignificantly increaed compared with control ubject but were not correlated with the everity of ocular ymptom. In tear of patient with vernal and atopic keratoconjunctiviti and eaonal allergic conjunctiviti, a well a in the nonallergic dieae, roacea blepharokeratoconjunctiviti and bacterial conjunctiviti, level of eoinophil cationic protein, neurotoxin, and interleukin-2 receptor were ignificantly increaed compared with control ubject. The highet value of thee marker were found in vernal keratoconjunctiviti ample. Neutrophil myeloperoxidae wa ignificantly increaed in vernal and atopic keratoconjunctiviti, roacea blepharokeratoconjunctiviti, and bacterial conjunctiviti. In vernal keratoconjunctiviti, tear marker were correlated to the clinical core of the dieae, but not with cytology.
CONCLUION:
Tear hitamine wa meaured in 10 allergic patient after allergen challenge. Although none of the above marker can be conidered pecific to a ingle dieae, their meaurement may till be ueful for the quantification of local cell activation in ocular inflammatory dieae.
