Abstract :
PURPOE: To determine the enitivity and pecificity of frequency doubling perimetry with Humphrey viual field teting ued a the gold tandard. METHOD: Frequency doubling perimetry and Humphrey viual field teting (24-2) were performed on 29 conecutive patient in a glaucoma practice. Data for the right eye were ued to calculate enitivity, pecificity, and receiver operating characteritic curve. REULT: For the frequency doubling perimetry in creening mode, and with an abnormal glaucoma hemifield tet ued a the gold tandard, the area under the receiver operating characteritic curve wa 89.3%, 81.5%, or 75.0% for the preence of mild, moderate, or evere relative defect, repectively. imilar reult were found with the ue of mean deviation (P< .05) to define Humphrey viual field defect. For frequency doubling perimetry in threhold mode, the area under the receiver operating characteritic curve wa 93.4% with the preence of any defect (P< .05) ued a the criterion for an abnormal cae, and an abnormal glaucoma hemifield tet a the gold tandard. In all cae, the threhold mode detected defect better than the creening mode. Abtract CONCLUION: Frequency doubling perimetry howed a high enitivity and pecificity for detecting viual field abnormalitie, epecially when threhold trategie were ued.
