Abstract :
PURPOE: To compare fluorecein angiography and indocyanine green angiography for imaging of choroidal neovacularization located under ubretinal hemorrhage, in age-related macular degeneration. METHOD: In a retropective tudy, 30 eye of 30 conecutive patient with hemorrhagic age-related macular degeneration were evaluated with fluorecein angiography and indocyanine green angiography. In each eye, area of macular hemorrhage, choroidal neovacularization, and total leion (hemorrhage plu choroidal neovacularization) were meaured, and the choroidal neovacularization wa categorized a claic, occult, or mixed on fluorecein angiography, and a hot pot, plaque, or combined leion on indocyanine green angiography. Reult of the two technique were compared for the ability to identify a laer-treatable leion. REULT: Fluorecein angiography howed fluorecence in mot cae (28, 93.3%). In 23 cae (76.6%), the fluorecence pattern wa compatible with occult choroidal neovacularization. Indocyanine green angiography revealed defined pattern of fluorecence in 27 cae (90%): 12 hot pot, even plaque, and eight combined hot pot and plaque. Twenty leion (66.6%) detected by indocyanine green angiography were conidered eligible for laer therapy. Nine of them (45%) were extrafoveal. CONCLUION: Indocyanine green angiography i beneficial for imaging choroidal neovacularization located under ubretinal hemorrhage. Choroidal neovacularization demontrated on indocyanine green angiography may be conidered eligible for laer treatment. Therefore, indocyanine green angiography hould be conidered in cae of hemorrhagic age-related macular degeneration.
